What You Should Do If You Find Signs Of Mice In Your Home

Mice are small pests in the rodent family and can fit into tiny spaces. They are usually a lighter gray in color and are only a few inches long. Their tails aren't as long as a rat's tail, but they are longer than a mole's tail. These pests will eat just about anything and can chew through many different types of materials to get to the food they need in order to survive. These pests can carry their food haul in the pouches of their cheeks, taking it back to their colony, or just for themselves. They usually take their food back to a nest of some sort. If you see signs of these pests, you need to begin exterminating them before you have not just one mouse, but the entire colony and then some. Read on for some of the signs of mice and what you can do to get rid of them.

Signs Of Mice

Some of the signs of mice that you should be on the lookout for include piles of food stores from an area such as your pantry or cabinets to another location. If you see a trail of food, it more than likely was being carried by a mouse and some of those pieces of food have fallen out on the way back to the nest. You may also find nesting materials, or pieces of rags that have been torn and ripped to shreds, shredded paper, or other soft materials in a pile, or just strewn around. If you find an actual pile, it is more than likely an actual nest. Holes that appear to have been chewed through may also be a sign. Piles of feces, which appear to look about the size of a sprinkle or a grain of rice, and are usually black, may also be some of the other signs that you can spot.

What You Can Do

If you have seen any of the signs above, there are several things you can do that may help exterminate them from your home. The most effective way to get rid of them is to set traps around your home. Use mouse traps and set them according to the manufacturer's directions using fresh bait in the traps. Set multiple traps around your home and check the traps often for mice. If you are finding mice in the traps, you need to continue to set the traps back out again and again until you no longer have these pests. You can also hire a pest control company to take care of this issue for you. Mice can be tricky to get rid of and if you aren't looking for them in the right place, you could have an infestation on your hands.
